In 2012, Student Transfer Experience Weekend (STEW): Hosted by the Southeast Asian Coalition (SEA Co) was established by Southeast Asian student groups at UCLA. Their goal was to create a weekend dedicated to newly admitted transfer students. This year, the tradition continues: student groups involved in STEW: Hosted by SEA Co 2026 include the Vietnamese Student Union, Association of Indonesian Americans, United Khmer Students, Thai Student Association, the Association of Hmong students, Burmese Student Association, Singapore Students Association, Asian Pacific Coalition, and Southeast Asian Campus Learning Education and Retention.
STEW seeks to promote higher education, increase community consciousness about transfer students, and provide a safe and supportive community on campus for transfer students. STEW also strives to connect new admits to opportunities and resources available at UCLA.

Tours
Explore campus beyond the brochure. Our guided tours connect you with the spaces, stories, and hidden gems that shape the UCLA experience — from iconic landmarks to the corners students love most.

Workshops
Hands-on sessions designed to prepare you for what’s next. Whether it’s academic success, career growth, or personal development, our workshops give you practical tools and real insight you can use immediately.

Panelists
Hear directly from students, alumni, and professionals who’ve walked the path before you. Our panelists share honest advice, lived experiences, and the lessons they wish they knew earlier.
Our ultimate goal is to allow prospective students to experience what it might be like to be a UCLA transfer student in a supportive community, and to build the next generation of empowered student leaders.

On behalf of the Southeast Asian Coalition UCLA, we cordially invite newly admitted transfer students to the 15th Annual Student Transfer Experience Weekend: Hosted by the Southeast Asian Coalition.
As an incoming transfer student to UCLA, transitioning to a new environment is a big challenge to do when you only have two years here. With all of the hard work and dedication you put into getting here, there should be some way to understand all the quirks and details of your brand new college experience. Not to worry though, that’s where STEW comes in.
STEW is a student-run transfer orientation program meant to support YOU as a prospective student to gain insight to what UCLA has to offer! As the only school in the UC system who provides such a program catered to transfer admits interested about the Southeast Asian student experience, we hope that we can show you the exciting future that awaits you, as a Bruin!

Hi transfer admits!! Welcome to UCLA :D Congratulations on all your endeavors that have led you to this point!! I am super honored and excited to help welcome you to the community here. Navigating new spaces can be a daunting task, and our mission is to help make this a lot less scary and a lot more enjoyable! You all have unique talents, hobbies, interests, and pathways in life, and we’re here to ensure you have the resources and opportunities to explore as many avenues as possible for your personal outlets. I hope you get to learn more about what’s here for you at UCLA through all the STEW staff and volunteers, as well as befriending your fellow transfer admit peers. I know a weekend is a super short time, but I really hope that each and every one of you get the chance to learn a bit more about what UCLA has to offer. I also hope you get the chance to have lots of fun in the STEW community that I have grown to love so dearly. We’d love to continue making more memories with you once you become a Bruin, and we’ll be here for you through it all :D

Yo transfer admits, you made it to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). We are more than honored to host you for our 15th Annual Student Transfer Experience Weekend (STEW): Hosted by the Southeast Asian Coalition! Your hard work will not go unnoticed, and we hope through this program that you'll find a warm welcome to UCLA. Our goal for STEW by SEACo is to integrate you to campus and find a community here you can come to comfortably regardless of your connection to Southeast Asian culture. Through our tours and workshops, we hope you find yourself having an unforgettable time with your “family” you'll spend the bulk of your stay here with. I remember my first weeks of entering UCLA, I was on the anxious end and my biggest fear was being alone—no one to talk to and no one to share this university experience with. Although I didn't attend STEW, it is through the Southeast Asian space that I found my people and support system. STEW is a program I truly love and care for, and I hope it is through your experience that you find that same warmth that STEW has given to me. Be proud of yourself for getting admitted here, and be excited for the memories to come that we hope begins (and continues) through here. We are here to support you every single step of the way

Hello, my beautiful transfer admits! First, congratulations on your acceptance to UCLA ! I am so incredibly proud of you all for your dedication and hardwork. We all come from different backgrounds. Some of you are transferring from community colleges, while others are coming from different universities. No matter where you started, your path here is valid and meaningful. As a transfer-admit, myself, I distinctly remember the mix of emotions that came with my acceptance. It was a blend of excitement, disbelief, and pride, but I had also felt incredibly nervous. While I knew in a heartbeat where I would spend my remaining years in my undergraduate studies, I felt nervous. But deep down, I knew this opportunity would transform my life for the better. The Student Transfer Experience Weekend (STEW): Hosted by the Southeast Asian Coalition welcomes all transfer-admits! We hope our event helps provide a seamless introduction to UCLA through our strong community and interactive activities. But most importantly, we would love to help YOU solidify your commitment as a future Bruin. Take the time now to acknowledge the fruits of your labor. You have made it. You earned this moment, so take the moment to wholeheartedly embrace your achievements.

2026 Theme: STEW in the clouds
Lights up. Music on. In the Clouds is where our stories meet.
Like your favorite festival set where strangers turn into friends, STEW brings us together through shared memories, cultures, and rhythms. From childhood throwbacks to the songs that shaped us, music has always been the thread connecting our past to our present.
In the Clouds celebrates that feeling. The moment you realize you belong; the good old days are not behind us, they are happening right now. And this weekend, we are building memories you will carry long after the lights fade.
